Vote By Mail or Absentee N.C.
Voting by Mail In N.C.

Based on the registration address you provided, below is the address of your local election official
and a link to download your official absentee ballot request.

Voting By Mail

To vote absentee by mail you must apply for a ballot with your county board of elections.

To apply for an absentee ballot by mail the voter may send a signed written request to the county
board of elections office beginning September 15. All requests must be received by October 28,
2008. We recommend that you apply for your ballot no later than October 19, 2008 to allow enough
time to process your application.

Each request must be signed by the voter or the voter’s near relative*, and include the voter’s name
and address as they appear on the registration records, and the address where the ballot is to be
mailed. It is helpful to include the voter’s date of birth, and if request is by the near relative, the near
relative’s address and relationship to the absentee voter.

*A near relative, as defined by law, is a spouse, brother, sister, parent, grandparent, child,
grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, or
verifiable legal guardian.
